This stunning piece of contemporary art is a one-of-a-kind hand-painted portrait of a majestic stag. Measuring 100cm in length and height, and 2cm in width, this is an original piece titled ‘King of the Forest’. I first began this painting by carefully gilding the large canvas with intricate gold leaf, the of gold leaf I use for my painting reflects the light beautifully. I painted the stag using acrylic paint adding bold brush strokes and paint drips to the piece to add a more contemporary feel to the painting. Finally I finished the painting with high gloss, UV resistant and anti yellowing resin. The resin creates a unique and organic texture on the canvas as it gathers and groups in different places on the gold leaf ( as can be seen in the last two photos). Not only does the resin add a visually appealing finish but it also makes the painting super durable.
Overall I feel this painting would be the perfect addition to any part of the home and due to its impressive size it would make a statement in any space.
